Who We Are
About the Market
The Puyallup Farmers’ Market is a fundraising event hosted by the Puyallup Main Street Association (PMSA), a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organization focused on business and community development and historic preservation of the downtown Puyallup core business district. Since 1989, PMSA has had a positive effect on the revitalization of Puyallup’s businesses and the town as a whole.
PMSA’s mission is to “represent and support a vital downtown by promoting economic growth”. The Association’s vision includes “a downtown business district that is alive, inviting, healthy and thriving while retaining its hometown, friendly charm. Our downtown is a family-oriented place in which business owners and shoppers, or clients know one another on a first-name basis”.
The Puyallup Farmers’ Market not only raises funds to support PMSA’s mission and vision for the downtown business district, it brings a large gathering of folks into downtown Puyallup that supports both the downtown businesses and over 200 small business vendors at the marketplace throughout the season. In addition, the Market’s outreach effort supports specific communities including low-income households, seniors, and WIC participants and the marketplace provides a diverse and inclusive environment for an amazing Market day experience.
Market History
The Puyallup Farmers’ Market came to life in 1982 and in its formative years the Market season was 8-10 Saturdays and hosted up to 59 vendors each week. The present day Market season runs 25-26 Saturdays and hosts up to 150 participants each week! Over the years the marketplace has always been focussed on providing the community farm-fresh goods from Washington farmers and has grown since it’s inception to include handcrafted products from Washington artists, crafters, and chefs.
Market Mission
To create and provide an environment that connects local producers (farmers/processors), artisans, crafters, prepared food vendors, downtown Puyallup small businesses, and local, non-profit and community organizations with local and surrounding community folks and where all participants benefit from the experience.
